World Vision International Lao PDR is looking for Agriculture Technical Coordinator for a newly awarded multi-year grant project, the “Sustainable Agriculture for Nutrition’’ (SUAN)” in Saravan Province. SUAN means garden in Lao language. The project is financed by the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affair and Trade (DFAT) and is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF), among other partners. The goal of the SUAN project is to improve nutrition and food security of 1,975 households (8,334 people) in 3 districts (Toumlarn, Vapi and Lakhonpheng), 18 villages (6 villages per districts) in Saravan province, particularly women and children under five, through sustainable and nutrition-sensitive climate smart agriculture (NS-CSA), as well as childcare and hygiene practices. Key project outcomes are: Improved access to sufficient and diverse foods year-round Improved dietary & care practices among Women of Reproductive Age (WRA) (15-45 years) & Children Under Five (CU5) Improved Gender Equity and Disability Inclusion (GEDSI) for increased participation in nutrition-sensitive, climate-smart agriculture (NS-CSA) Increased information and learning opportunities on NS-CSA and GEDSI The Agriculture Technical Coordinator will be based in Toumlarn Districts, Saravan province and will report to SUAN Agriculture Coordinator under the hierarchical responsibility of the SUAN project Manager. The role consists of planning and coordinating the project agricultural activities both crops and livestock. This includes activities such as farmers group organization and training, community seed banks development, homestead and community gardens development, post-harvest management (drying, processing, storage), animal health and livestock raising, village veterinary workers as well as improve community preparedness and resilience to disaster and shocks caused by climate change effects. The Agriculture Technical Coordinator will work closely with SUAN project team to provide technical support and overall planning and on-site implementation of the agriculture activities under Outcome 1 in the target area. He/she works in close relationship with the District Agriculture and Forestry Office Technical Coordinator (DAFO) based at the same targeted area. The responsibilities of the position include: Organize and implement, in team with the district Coordinators and staff from DAFO (Both agriculture and livestock section), the following activities described in the project logical framework, Annual Development Plan and Detailed Implementation Plan : technical training on primary and secondary crops, home gardening and fruit trees production, distribution of low-cost productive inputs and seeds, training and support to post-harvest processing and storage practices, livestock raising (small animal ,poultry, pigs…) , technical training and organization of Village Veterinary Workers (VVW) and methodology of the service. Contribute to the following, in team with the other Technical Coordinators and under the leadership of the Agriculture coordinator and other Advisors: Specify the methodology for activity implementation; Set criteria and method setting for beneficiary selection; Development of training curriculum; Set work plans with the DAFO staff in consultation with the agriculture coordinator and project team; Set indicators and quarterly targets for monitoring & evaluation; Follow up and monitoring of activity for data collection, technical support and capture feedback from target beneficiaries. Update data collection using Kobo system. Write and submit the Monthly and quarterly activity reports, data collection to agriculture coordinator in Lao and English; Participate in meetings and technical workshops, as required by the Management team, inside and outside the districts and provinces of intervention; Contribute to the advocacy, communication and associative life of SUAN project and World Vision International Laos in general. Contribute to the development of training curriculum, IEC and timeframe for each activity, Contribute to sustainable project impact in the target vulnerable communities.
