Public Bank Lao Limited (PBLL) is a foreign-owned local bank incorporated in January 2024, upgraded from the overseas branch operations of Malaysia's Public Bank Berhad, which first began operating in Laos on 18 December 1995. With 30 years of banking history in the country, PBLL operates 4 branches across Laos — two in Vientiane Capital, one in Savannakhet, and one in Pakse — with its head office in Vientiane. PBLL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Public Bank Berhad, the largest non-government-linked banking group in Malaysia. The parent group serves customers through 314 branches in Malaysia and an extensive regional network spanning Hong Kong, China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and Sri Lanka, offering a comprehensive range of financial services including personal and commercial banking, Islamic banking, investment banking, share broking, unit trust management, and bancassurance. In Laos, PBLL provides retail and corporate banking products with a growing focus on digital services, including the MyPBLL mobile banking app for everyday transactions, savings accounts, cards, and online banking. The bank is regulated by the Bank of the Lao PDR and participates in the deposit protection scheme.
