The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is the global humanitarian organization of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Founded in 1956 and serving in more than 118 countries, ADRA delivers relief and development assistance to individuals regardless of their ethnicity, political affiliation, gender, or religious association. ADRA has been operating in Lao PDR since 1991 and has been registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since July 1992. In Laos, ADRA works across four key impact areas: Health, Agriculture, Livelihoods, and Emergency response. The organization partners with local communities, organizations, and governments to deliver culturally relevant programs and build local capacity for sustainable change. Laos remains the most heavily bombed country per capita in history, and ADRA continues to help communities recover and develop after decades of hardship. ADRA Laos runs multiple active projects focused on improving nutrition, supporting upland communities, enhancing agricultural practices, and responding to emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization emphasizes community-led development and works to build the capacity of the communities it serves to ensure a bright future for all people in Lao PDR.
