The Institut Pasteur du Laos is a key partner in public health and scientific research across the region. As a Lab Technician in our Entomology Laboratory, you will contribute directly to vital studies on vector-borne diseases, helping to understand and control illnesses that affect local communities.
You will be responsible for the daily operations of the lab, including preparing and maintaining insect colonies, conducting experiments on mosquito behavior and insecticide resistance, and performing molecular and biochemical assays. Your meticulous attention to detail will ensure the quality and integrity of all data collected, supporting both ongoing research and field interventions. This role calls for a solid foundation in laboratory sciences, with experience in chemical handling and environmental or food science principles being a distinct advantage.
Working alongside a dedicated team of scientists and international experts, you will handle sensitive biological samples and maintain strict safety protocols. Your work will directly influence public health strategies, from monitoring resistance patterns to evaluating new control methods. Every day presents a chance to apply your technical skills in a setting where accurate results lead to meaningful outcomes for public well-being.
At the Institut Pasteur du Laos, you will build on your research and development expertise within a world-renowned institution. The collaborative environment provides steady professional growth, exposure to global health initiatives, and the satisfaction of seeing your lab work translate into real-world protection for communities.

Institut Pasteur du Laos (IPL) is a Lao national research institution established by Prime Ministerial Decree in November 2007. It is the result of a long-term partnership between the Lao Ministry of Health and Institut Pasteur Paris, which committed to a 16-year support period before transferring full management to Lao leadership. IPL operates from a 9,000 square meter campus in downtown Vientiane. IPL fulfills a public service mandate from the Lao Ministry of Health in three key areas: research and diagnosis of emerging infectious diseases and vector-borne diseases; training, education and capacity building; and technical assistance to the National Center for Laboratory and Epidemiology for epidemic investigations. The institute began operations in December 2011 with four laboratories covering arboviruses and emerging viral diseases, vaccine-preventable diseases, medical entomology, and parasitology. As part of the global Institut Pasteur network of over 30 institutes, IPL benefits from scientific autonomy, independent financial management, and support from international donors including France, Japan, and Luxembourg. The institute is committed to building a new generation of Lao scientists and doctors to ensure long-term sustainability and health security for Lao PDR.
