Phu Bia Mining owns and operates two award winning operations – Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver, both located in Xaisomboun Province, 120km north of Vientiane.     This is a unique time to join the Phu Bia Mining team. Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off; 9 days on, 5 days off; or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off. Reporting to the Metallurgy Superintendent, the primary objective of a Metallurgist is to ensure a safe and efficient working environment while providing strong technical leadership to the Metallurgical team. This role supports processing plant operations by developing and implementing strategies that drive the achievement of key performance indicators (KPIs). The Metallurgist is also accountable for managing short to medium term metallurgical issues within the operating plant. This includes identifying opportunities for optimization, troubleshooting process constraints, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance and metal recovery.   Your responsibilities will include: Monitor and improve performance by ensuring safe, stable, and efficient plant operation to maximize throughput and recovery. Provide technical support to diagnose and resolve metallurgical and operational challenges.  Analyse daily plant performance data in relation to ore characteristics variability and recommend appropriate process adjustments to improve and optimize plant efficiency. Monitor and maintain key metallurgical operating parameters to ensure they are aligned to standard operating strategies. Maintain accuracy and integrity of production and metallurgical accounting data.  Prepare daily metallurgical production reports, weekly and monthly metal reconciliation reports.  Support laboratory test work, drive plant trials and continuous improvement initiatives.  Collaborate with Mining and Geology teams on short term planning and ore management in alignment with the Production Management System (PMS) cycle.  Monitor reagent consumption, deliveries, and inventory to ensure usage remains within or below budgeted levels.  Ensure reliability and proper functioning of online analysers and metallurgical models.  Drive proactive and timely execution of A3 projects aligned with the Game of Quarters continuous improvement framework.  Lead daily metallurgical activities and specialised programs, including plant surveys, trials, and improvement campaigns, to sustain performance gains.  Contribute to team capability development by coaching and guiding metallurgical technicians.  Maintain focus on achieving budgeted physicals and cost targets.   To be successful in this role, you will require:   Higher Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or a related field. Minimum 2 years’ experience in a mineral processing or metallurgical plant environment. Solid understanding of metallurgical principles and mineral processing techniques, with the ability to optimize plant performance.
