Senior External Affairs Advisor Be part of a high-performing mining company, multi-cultural team environment Competitive salary and benefits package – Vientiane Office (Monday to Friday).   THIS POSITION IS AVAILABLE TO LAO NATIONALS ONLY.   Phu Bia Mining Limited is a Lao-registered company, 90 per cent owned by PanAust, an Australian-headquartered copper and gold mining company, with the Government of Laos owning the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates two award winning operations – Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver, both located in Xaisomboun Province, 120km north of Vientiane.     This is a unique time to join the Phu Bia Mining team. The Company’s Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver Operations are world-class in terms of safety, production and performance. Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off; 9 days on, 5 days off; or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off.   Reporting to the Government Relations Manager, you will be a key Phu Bia Mining representative, liaising and negotiating with senior Lao Government officials, civil society, senior company representatives and other key stakeholders regarding Phu Bia’s mining and exploration activities in Laos. This senior role requires an experienced, critical thinker, who can handle multiple projects and issues simultaneously. You must be resourceful, adaptable and have excellent interpersonal skills as you will play a vital role in the success of the business. This varied position offers a broad scope of work and would suit someone experienced in building and maintaining positive relationships across a broad network of senior leaders and government officials.   Your responsibilities will include:   Supporting PanAust’s business presence and future expansion; by ensuring effective and robust government relationships in Laos. Assisting in development/implement of government relations strategies that will enhance and maintain positive relationships with governments and other governance stakeholders in Laos;  Supporting negotiations/implementation of agreements or contracts struck directly with government authorities and agencies in Laos; Supporting Phu Bia Mining corporate, commercial and operational activities with Central, Provincial, District and Community authorities; Helping negotiation outcomes with government which are necessary for Phu Bia Mining business activities and development; Liaising with government ministries and development on Phu Bia Mining activities and government activities which may impact upon PBM’s interests; Organising and managing field visits to Phu Bia Mining operations for external stakeholders. To be successful in this role, you will require:   A recognised qualification in law, business, international relations, public relations or similar, is highly desirable. At least 5 years' experience in coordinating projects and collaborating with the government at a senior level. Excellent written and verbal skills in English and Lao; experienced in working in a multicultural environment.
