Our modern mine camps provide great Lao, Asian and Western food, sport and recreational facilities and housekeeping services. Site-based employees work a roster of 20 days on, 8 days off; 9 days on, 5 days off; or 14 days on, 7 days off for shift work, while Vientiane – based employees work 5 days per week with 2 days off. Reporting to the Mine Superintendent, The Underground Operational Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and productive execution of day-to-day underground mining activities across PBM’s underground operations at LCT, BHX, and PKM. This position is responsible for frontline supervision of underground development and production crews (including contractors), ensuring that all mining operations are executed according to plan, and are aligned with PBM’s safety, productivity, cost, and environmental standards. The Operational Supervisor is a key enabler of PBM’s Production Management System (PMS), maintaining high standards of work quality, compliance, and workforce leadership to support operational continuity and performance. Your responsibilities will include: Ensure that work in development headings meets company safety policies Implement PBM’s 5 Safe Behaviours and Underground POINT SAFETY SYSTEM. Underground personnel have their personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow development priorities quality of the development is good, and there is no excessive development (i.e., overbreak) Communicate and coordinate with Survey, Planning and management on the underground development progress. Identify areas of poor ground and revise bolting patterns with the Geotechnical Engineer, if required. Implement standards for ground support in collaboration with the Geotechnical department and Safety based on span and ground conditions. Ensure that these standards are followed and that the orientation, length and type of bolts are suitable. Work with the Mining Engineering and Surveyors to ensure that plans are timely provided to the Development Contractor. Provide written comments on development layouts as they are being prepared for approval. Cooperate with the Mobile Maintenance department to investigate and report damage to company equipment. Underground visits to working areas are to be done at least 3 to 6 times daily using a checklist to monitor progress and quality of work. Cooperate with PBM Management to establish procedures and evaluate Development Contractors’ compliance. A written daily report dealing with the safety, efficiency and quality of development work of the contractors Comparison to the monthly plan. Identification of the reasons why areas may be falling behind, whether the goals were realistic and what needs to be done to resolve it and get back to plan The availability of operators, equipment and its effect on development advance Quality of mechanical maintenance and its effect on development advance Quality of ground support, ventilation and services and whether it serves the long-term needs of the mine.
