National Environment and Social Consultant Preparation of Environment and Social Framework

The Lao Statistics Bureau (LSB) is the national statistical office of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, operating under the Ministry of Planning and Investment. Headquartered in Vientiane, LSB is responsible for collecting, compiling, analysing, and disseminating official statistics that inform national policy, development planning, and international reporting. LSB conducts major national surveys including the Population and Housing Census (most recently the 5th Census in 2025), the Lao Expenditure and Consumption Survey (LECS), and the National Summary Data Page for SDG indicators. The Bureau maintains the e-GDDS statistical dissemination platform and publishes regular economic indicators including GDP growth rates, consumer price indices, and inflation data. The Bureau also provides statistical methodology guidance, training curricula, and geographic data for development planning. Its work underpins the 10th National Socio-Economic Development Plan and supports evidence-based decision-making across all sectors of the Lao economy.
